Impact of Covid-19 on Commercial Property Surveying

Mobius Building Consultancy recognises Covid-19 as the most difficult challenge faced in a lifetime.  It is claiming thousands of lives in tragic circumstances and continues to pose a direct threat to the lives and livelihoods of billions around the world.  We are accordingly committed to ensuring we do not contribute in any way to the spread of the disease and are limiting our work in all but absolutely necessary circumstances to working from home for all of our staff.

In cases where we are undertaking inspections or otherwise leaving the home for work purposes, our staff are provided with personal protective equipment including protective gloves, FFP2 face masks and hand sanitizer.  We also risk assess each potential inspection instance to understand the means of transport to get to site (which is currently all taken by private car), site access, what site conditions are present, how many (if any) other people will be on site, handwashing facilities, etc.  Our staff are also immediately aware of the need to comply with the government’s stipulations on social distancing.

Whilst the above reflects the impact of Covid-19 on surveying commercial property, the wider impact on commercial property is being felt on many levels including investment, asset management and property management by parties such as investors, landlords, occupiers, pension funds and contractors.

On 14 May 2020, our Director Ben Strange will be taking part in a live online debate on the impact of Covid-19 on the UK Property Market.  Sign up on the link below to listen in.
